The Centre for English Language Studies (CELS) was founded in April 2011 at the University of Hyderabad. It caters to a diverse group of students across disciplines and aims to grow into a research and resource Centre in the area of English Language Studies. Research areas span across language studies and aspects of pedagogy. The Centre is also involved in teaching at the UG level and offers customised, need-based proficiency courses to post-graduate students and research scholars of the university. Faculty publish in various areas pertaining to their research interests and are also engaged in research projects.
Research Scholars’ Forum, a group of researchers at CELS, aims to enhance the interdisciplinary research through collaboration, discussion and debate on issues related to English Language Studies. The RSF organises academic events such as talks, lectures, workshops and conferences.
COREL (Conference for Researchers of English Language) is an annual research scholars’ conference organised by the Research Scholars’ Forum, Centre for English Language Studies, University of Hyderabad. It is an academic endeavour to bring together research scholars across the nation working in the field of English Language and allied disciplines. The theme of COREL-2017 is “English Language Studies in contemporary Indian context: Issues and Challenges”.
